What Happens to Your Car After Scrap Car Removal in Whakatāne?

From towing to recycling — the full journey your vehicle takes after we collect it.

Step 1: Pickup and transport

After you accept our quote, your car is towed to our dismantling yard in the Whakatāne region. All removals are free and scheduling is easy.

Step 2: Removal of hazardous materials

Your vehicle is inspected and stripped of dangerous fluids and components — engine oil, coolant and brake fluid, petrol or diesel, airbags and batteries — all disposed of in accordance with NZ environmental safety standards.

Step 3: Salvaging reusable parts

Next we recover parts in good condition: alternators and starters, engines, gearboxes and radiators, doors, lights and mirrors, tyres and wheels. These are cleaned, tested and resold — helping other Kiwis keep their cars on the road for less.

Step 4: Shredding and metal recycling

Once stripped, the remaining car shell is crushed and shredded. Metals such as steel, copper and aluminium are separated and melted down for use in new products.

Step 5: Recycling tyres and glass

Tyres are turned into rubber surfaces used in sports fields and playgrounds. Glass is ground down and reused in construction or insulation materials.

Step 6: Keeping Whakatāne green

By recycling your vehicle, you're helping protect our local rivers, beaches and bushland from harmful pollutants and waste. Over 90% of your car is reused or recycled.
